The BH Debate Club's Speech & Apologetics spring term course is now registering. Classes start February 4th and run until June 2nd, weekly, Tuesdays, 12:35pm to 2:30pm. (Note ending time corrected from wrongly stated1:30pm) All classes are held at Southwest Hills Baptist Church in Beaverton. (Please do not contact the church as they kindly provide facility use but do not administer the classes). Class Description: Speech types and Apologetics theory are taught during the first quarter. The second quarter provides competitive rounds during our club time. All students must participate in all platform speech types and apologetics during competitive rounds. Gracious conduct and regular attendance is required. Materials Needed Student theory packets provided by club. Laptops or tablets beneficial but not essential. Supplemental reading lists supplied and strongly encouraged. (See website.) Platform Speech Types Humorous/Dramatic Interpretation Informative/Expository Impromptu/Table Topics Apologetics In the Apologetics portion of this course, students learn what is a worldview, how to discern worldview, the different kinds of worldviews, and how to respond to common Christian challenges during the theory portion.
