Our hope is that The CHOC Board is a blessing to those Christian homeschoolers in the Westside (and general Portland area) who desire to support, connect and network with each other in their homeschooling endeavors in Christ. We also wish to be a blessing to all homeschoolers in our area who desire help to find good, wholesome activities and resources for their homeschool.
So, how does the CHOC Board work?
We began the directories and our help pages with the favorites we'd discovered over our 12 years of homeschooling, hince the initial focus is on westside activities since we live in the westside. The board, however, is open to information useful to Christian homeschoolers in all areas of the extended Portland metro.
We at the CHOC Board continue to actively seek out useful information and thus are constantly updating our annoucement forums, directories, and help articles to aid the Christian homeschool community.
We've developed our message forums at
the CHOC Talk so interested local Christian homeschoolers, homeschool groups, homeschool organizations, and businesses catering to homeschoolers can directly post their information to connect with interested Christian homeschooling familes in our extended area--sort of a free "classified ads" section of information which can include: event dates, special promotions, upcoming classes and activities, Christian conferences, groups that wish to interact such as speech/debate, or perform such as Readers Theater, or find more members such as a Scouting Club, as well as homeschool items or services for sale, or to give away, etc., etc., etc.
We also have several forums to simply connect with others in the Christian homeschool community to seek advice, referrals, helpful tools, etc.
We will attempt to archive good homeschool information posted by others in our forums on the CHOC Talk to our directories on the CHOC Board. (Therefore, please be mindful not to post copyrighted material in our forums).
Our helps grow as interested parties contribute either through our forums or directly to us.
We encourage you to post in our forums and join our community! (See our full set of forum and archive rules at the CHOC Talk page at our sidebar. Full instructions on how to post are also on the CHOC Talk page and in "sticky topics" at the top of each forum.)
If you prefer we post for you in our forums, or you would like to be listed in our directories, you may Contact Us through the side bar (some businesses prefer we post for them).
The CHOC Board and its forums at the CHOC Talk are a free service to all who are interested. (See our forum and archive rules at the bottom of
the CHOC Talk Forums page if you wish to copy or print any of our articles or pages.)
If you have any questions or comments about the CHOC Board, our forums, or about homeschooling in general, please
contact us. We'll try our best to answer your questions or address your concerns. We also welcome your input to help us improve our site and ministry.
We do hope, through His guidance, that the CHOC Board will provide a vital tool for Christian homeschoolers to connect, network, inform, encourage, support, edify and minister to each other in Christ in our homeschooling endeavors within our extended northwest community.
In His Service,
Glen and Tammy Arp
